In 1942, Britain’s Royal Navy began to lay down the first of what would become sixteen “light fleet carriers.” This ship would be more capable than the converted liners and cargo vessels turned into escort carriers, but not as advanced as the fleet carriers – and most importantly, not as expensive and much faster to build They would be disposable warships, to give a few years’ wartime service and then head to the scrapyard. Instead, they carried on for decades after the war, with one enduring in service until 2001. Fleet Air Arm adds these ships, and many more – escorting cruisers and destroyers and even a few battleships – to your Plan Z universe.
