Central to the system lies its hero-building strategy. Players craft their heroes by combining various character options: Role, Race, Trait, and Aspect. Your Role embodies your hero's profession, while your Race denotes your heritage and species. Traits, Aspects, Mutations, Familiars, Blood Magic, and now Elemental Augmentations offer additional layers of customization. These combinations shape your hero's strengths and weaknesses, and bestow upon them unique special abilities, defining their individuality within the game world. Discover fun synergies and enjoy creating entirely different combinations. Each Volume is a sandbox containing hundreds of unique cards that drive your story to unfold in unique ways. You'll find new play styles to complete each game, meaning no two games played will ever be the same! This Encounter Deck adds a new way to play the Valley of the Dead King. All previously existing encounters from the Core Box, the Expansion, and the Living Card deck are reprinted with epic new art! These decks add a new way to play the game by separating the Encounters into their own deck. Additionally, these encounters are not restricted to the volume they originally appeared in, allowing you to add and customize what encounters will appear in any volume you play. Contents include: Rules insert describing this new playstyle 32 Full art encounters from Volume I: The Valley of the Dead King. Boons offer new and increased rewards on the next Encounter you face! Game Difficulty increase cards. Each deck will come with 3 Game Difficulty increase cards. Conditions/Keyword list: Add conditions that appeared exclusively in certain volumes to any game. Role variations: updated rules for the Roles that Summon Encounters Boons Boons were newly introduced in The Domain of Mirza Noctis. When you draw one of these from the Encounter deck, you’ll draw another card. If it is another Boon, you keep drawing. If the last card drawn is an Encounter, you’ll gain extra rewards after the battle. If the card is not an Encounter (a difficulty increase for instance), you’ll shuffle the Boons back into the Encounter deck. Boons offer new and increased rewards!
